Julio: Gone from Madrid, Spain … to Country
It’s now official – Julio Iglesias Jr. is the winner of CMT’s “Gone Country,” and deservedly so. As I told you earlier, I didn’t see every episode, but I probably saw the most important ones. And last night, when those seven performers entertained before a packed house at the Wild Horse Saloon in Nashville, there was no doubt in my mind which one I would actually pay money to go see in concert.
I kind of thought throughout the episodes that I saw, that Diana DeGarmo would end up with the top place finish, and a recording contract and a new single produced by John Rich. I probably based that on the fact that she has been singing since she was 5, and had a lot of experience putting on shows in front of large groups of people.
But, Julio was definitely the entertainer of the night. He reached out and grabbed control of the entire audience (especially the young girls). His song was good, his vocals were good, and he had a lot of stage presence. I think John Rich made the right choice.
It’s snowing today in East Tennessee. And I think I’m just going to sit in here and watch it come down. Have a good Saturday, folks! Drop me a line, let me know what you think about the Gone Country finale’.
