I probably don’t have to tell you all how much I love the summer and fall Fairs; and how much I love concerts… and how much I would enjoy going to Country Concert ‘09 in Ohio, or BamaJam in Alabama this year… but there are other option, too – Country Thunder USA will be held in Florence, Airz., from April 1-4. I wonder when we’re going to get something like this in Northeast Tennessee – I would love it… and I’m sure I’m not alone.
This is the 16th year for the event, and it is under new management. Two of our veteran concert promoters, Brian Andrews and Troy Vollhoffer, have taken the reins from the festival’s founder, Larry Barr.
Some of the changes being planned include the schedule of entertainers. Alan Jackson and Tim McGraw are in the list of people scheduled to appear. Reports are saying this will be the most notable lineup since Brooks & Dunn, Faith Hill and Reba appeared more than a decade ago.
Ok. promoters. I’d like to have some of that here, too. Arizona is a bit far from Northeast Tennessee.
Here’s Lee Ann Womack from a performance at Country Thunder USA back in 1997. It was one of the clearest videos I found, so even though it’s really an old one, I thought I’d include it here to give you all just a little look at CT USA (Which I am sure has changed a lot since 1997).
That’s all for now. I have a busy weekend, but I think it will be a fun one. The Bristol Christmas parade is at 11 a.m., then there are two more parades (if I think I can get to them), one in Greeneville, Tenn., and the other one in Elizabethton, Tenn., – I think those are 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. And in addition to that, I plan on putting up a Christmas tree! And maybe even getting a little holiday shopping done.
So, that’s my weekend plan – I hope all of you have a good weekend, too. I’ll jump in here from time to time, and add whatever I can between now and Monday. You guys have a good one! Write when you can! And thanks for reading!
