Boy, do I feel silly! Remember me telling all of you guys that I saw Four Christmases last week? Well, I did. And as I watched the cast roll by after the movie, I saw the name Dwight Yoakam. And I thought … i didn’t see him in that movie.
But I did – I just didn’t recognize the head usually covered with a cowboy hat, and jeans with holes in the knees. Because… Believe it or not – this photo is Dwight Yoakam, (in his role as Pastor Phil) and one of the movie’s costars Mary Steenburgen. Sorry, Dwight. I guess I’m not as observant as I thought I was.
This picture of Toby Keith is from the 67th annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in Sturgis, S.D. This past October, they held their 69th. I think Toby fits right in with the motorcycle guys.
I just checked Toby’s tour schedule on his MySpace page, and noticed that just about everything he has coming up is on television – several specials, a few runs of Beer for my Horses…it’s all right there for us to make note of and watch. The first shows I see on the schedule are Jan. 22 in Albany, N.Y., at the Times Union Center; Jan. 29, in Peoria, Ill., at Peoria Civic Center; and Jan. 30, in Evansville, Ind., at Roberts Stadium. And guys, there are still Meet and Greet passes available.
Who out there knew about Darryl Worley Furniture? I sure didn’t. But it seems our "Have You Forgotten” singer owns Darryl Worley Home Furnishings in Enterprise, Ala. And it looks like there’s a store in Elba, Ala, too.
That’s pretty cool. I’ll have to see if I can find out what kind of furniture he carries – just in case I’m ever in the market. According to the photo on his MySpace page, he has short hair again. (Which I actually prefer).
I guess it shouldn’t really surprise anyone that Emerson Drive put a million miles on their tour bus. That’s probably the case for a lot of entertainers. But, after hitting the million-mile mark, the guys have purchased a new bus… and will be taking it out on tour. Their first stop, Columbus, Ohio.
I really like this group. They were on the rumored schedule to appear at our Appalachian Fair last year in Gray, Tenn. But, they didn’t make the final list of “confirmed entertainers.” I think it would be great to have them, but perhaps they’ve outgrown county fairs… even ones as cool as ours! With a little luck, maybe we’ll get them in this area one day soon.
I guess that’s all for now. You guys take care, and drop me a line when you can. I’ll talk to you all tomorrow.
