Johnny Cash had a fantastic voice, and a lot of fans. And he had more than that, he had a real spirit, and what seemed to be a genuine understanding of people. How fitting that that wonderful voice should read the New Testament, in Cash’s new DVD Chapter &Verse.
The DVD contains Johnny’s 1990 reading of the entire New Testament, and has an accompanying CD of Johnny singing 14 gospel songs from the albums he made for Columbia Records.
The introduction is by John Carter Cash, who played a big part in discovering and packaging his father’s music. In a news release at CMT news, John said, “My father was first saved when he was young. Back in the 1970s, he re-found his faith. After that, when he went in to record the full New Testament, it was just a joy for him to do it. I know he enjoyed spreading the Word. I know he enjoyed reading it out loud. It helped his own spirit," John said.
Chapter & Verse is being sold both online and in retail stores.
Here’s a video form YouTube of Johnny singing Wonderful Time up there. I really liked him. His music will definitely be with us forever.
I’ll talk to you all soon. I hope some of you got to take an extra day or two off work, and are still enjoying your Christmas…. Make it last, all too soon the tree will be down, the decorations and music gone, and we’ll have to wait another year to do it all again. I’m about to head out of town for a few days. I will get something up here while I’m gone, if time and computer connections allow. You guys take care, and write when you can. Later!
