How many people out there love television talent shows? How many of you watch America’s Got Talent? American Idol? Can You Duet? Last Comic Standing? Nashville Star? Dancing with the Stars? Ok, the I believe that’s most of us.
This is Brent Keith, who was on the second season of Nashville Star and has now made it through to Hollywood on this year’s American Idol. I have no idea how far he’s going to get. But I wish all the best.
Now if you’re not quite the talent show addict that I am, you may not remember season two of Nashville Star… that was the year Brad Cotter walked away with the title. It was also the year Matt played a washboard, and George Canyon was one of the contestants.
Sometimes when I watch these shows, I say something like, “I’ve seen her (or him) before… on something else”. I did that with Celena Ray who appeared on a show called Your Big Break, and then showed up on American Idol a few years later. She made it to Hollywood on Idol – but that was about it.
Brent auditioned in Louisville, Ky., and didn’t seem to have any trouble getting his golden ticket to Hollywood. When he was on Nashville Star, he finished sixth. He has since cut his hair (looking good, Brent) … and he’s actually had some success in the music business. He was the singer of the lead track from CMT’s film Dale. the song was called “I’m Looking For A Road.” It has been featured on CMT’s Studio 330 Sessions a number of times.
I’m not sure how far Brent will get on Idol. If he makes it to the top 12, we’ll all have a chance to call in and vote for him. But whatever happens,I think we’ll be hearing a lot more from this young man in the future. Here’s his video for “I’m Looking For A Road.”
I’ll be back soon. You guys take care. Write when you can!
