Right now, everyone seems to be real involved in the auditioning process for American Idol. But there’s something else country bands can audition for. How about a nationwide competition to open for Little Big Town! I can’t even sing , and I definitely don’t have a band, but I want to go on tour with them!
The group announced that country musicians across the nation can register and compete for a spot as their opening act, on their upcoming A Place To Land tour. The top four acts will perform at different stops on the tour during March. To learn more about this competition, click here.
I’ve always liked this group. But I’ve never had the chance to see them in concert. That’s definitely one of the things on my list of “stuff I just have to do before I die” (yeah, I have one of those lists…and it just keeps getting longer). They’ve been here in Northeast Tennessee before, so I keep hoping they’ll get back real soon.
Little Big Town was nominated for a Grammy for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals, and was voted into GAC’s Top 50 Videos of 2008, and was nominated for a CMT online award for Number One Digitally Active Group or Duo. And I think they’re great.
Little Big Town member Karen Fairchild gave the following quote to Country Hound: “In the past Little Big Town has had amazing opportunities as an opening act. We’ve had the honor of opening for John Mellencamp, George Strait, Martina McBride, Sugarland, Keith Urban and more. Because of our experiences, we wanted to find a way to give back to some bands that are just getting started in their careers. It’s even more special because the fans get to choose. I can’t wait to see who the fans select."
I know I won’t be touring with the group, but maybe I’ll have the chance to see them in concert soon. These pictures were taken at FunFest in Kingsport, Tenn. last July. I didn’t get to go – but my friend Brittany Johnson took these photos. Here’s a little video for you… Life in a Northern Town… so you get to see Sugarland and Jake, too. Country music is the best!
That’s all for now, you guys have a wonderful weekend. Thanks for all the mail, I’ll talk to you guys soon.
