I’m not a really huge NASCAR fan. I guess I should be, especially since I live fairly close to Bristol Motor Speedway, and because I have attended events like Bristol Family Race Night, and Food City Family Race Night – which is full of drivers, fans, entertainment, free food … you name it, it’s there. But I never really got into the sport that much. I know a few of the drivers names – but couldn’t tell you who was the points champion last season, or any other season for that matter.
But, it sure looks like country music has found it’s place in NASCAR this year. Keith Urban performed at the first race of the year, the Daytona 500. And Little Big Town was at the one this past Sunday – and somewhere in between those two, we had Dierks Bently at a Cup race, too. But since I don’t follow the sport all that much, II really can’t even tell you which ones.
But I thought it might be fun to share a few of the YouTube clips of the entertainers at these events. I like this one of Keith, cause he’s just talking – and so relaxed. We all know the man can sing, and he’s certainly not hard to look at – so we’ll just listen to that cute Australian accent on his clip.
Dierks, I found out on YouTube, was at the 2009 Budweiser Shootout. I got to see Dierks at the Appalachian Fair a few years ago. He put on a great show, and the crowd obviously loved him. Here’s Dierks NASCAR clip.
Little Big Town did the National Anthem at the Auto Club 500 in Fontana, Calif., this past Sunday. I wonder if we’ll get to look forward to another country music entertainer at the next race – and all those races thereafter. I might actually have to start watching NASCAR. Looks like I’m missing a lot by not watching it.
That will do it for this morning – hope you guys enjoyed those clips, I know I did… but then, all of the NASCAR fans out there have probably already seen them. Take care, write when you get a minute – and I’ll talk to you all real soon.
