American Idol is off and running. I watched the Top 13 perform last night, and now I’m waiting for the show tonight to see which 11 are going to get to stay on for at least another week.
I don’t see anyone really country on the show this year, so it doesn’t look like a season when we’ll be seeing another Bucky Covington, Kellie Pickler, Josh Gracin or Carrie Underwood – but I’ll watch anyway. You guys know how much I like ‘reality shows.” At least the talent type shows… never really got into Survivor, Big Brother, The Mole, or stuff like that.
Carrie Underwood has recorded Home Sweet Home, an old Motley Crue song, and that’s the one they will use when the person voted off leaves. The song will air tonight on American idol, and each week thereafter, as the send-off tune for the person leaving.
The song will also release as a digital single, found exclusively on iTunes – and will be available through March 16. (After the 16th, it will be available at other online music retailers.)
Carrie, the folks at 19 Recordings, and Sony Music Nashville are donating a portion of the proceeds from the song to the Humane Society of the United States.
Carrie said she’s always loved the song and in addition to it “being fitting for idol, she said it was also fitting with animal rescue and finding animals their own homes.
Just had to get in a picture of Bucky, Kellie and Josh, since I was talking about American Idol. I got to see these guys at some of our area fairs over the past two summers. They all put on great shows! They’ve really come a long way since their days on AI.
