Gray, Tennessee native, Nick Nicholson, will be releasing his debut single to radio on March 16. The single is from his self-titled CD, and is on his MySpace page. The single is called “Somethin Somethin.” So be sure to have a listen! While you’re on Nick’s page, listen to some of his other songs, too. (The photo below (right) was taken when Nick performed at a concert with Tracy Lawrence.)
Nick is from Gray, but now lives in Arizona. That’s where most of his shows are right now, including a show on March 12, at Flagstaff, Ariz., with the Bellamy Brothers. That will be at the world famous Museum Club, beginning at 7 p.m. Nick is also scheduled to be at the Museum Club March 13 and 14, before moving to Peoria, Ariz., for the Peoria Festival of the Arts on March 15.
You can find show dates for Nick up on his MySpace page through August 15. So far, they are all a quite a bit west of Tennessee, but I’m hoping that we’ll be able to get him back to this area before too long.
His bio on his web site says he “grew up at the knee of his musical father, and learned to sing not only with his voice, but from his soul.” Nick said he wants people to feel what he feels when he sings. He started performing when he was 12, and according to his bio, he has “grown increasingly comfortable on the stage.”
Nick served in the United States Air Force for 10 years, and never lost his desire to share his music with the world. He volunteers his time and talent to various veterans’ events throughout the year.
Some of Nick’s influences include Ray Charles, Conway Twitty, Travis Tritt, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Elvis … and his dad, “Big Al.” He says he is comfortable in any genre of music, and has developed a unique sound all his own, that could best be described as Rockin’ Country.
Those of you in East Tennessee, southwest Virginia, and western North Carolina, who are planning to come to our benefit for The American Cancer Society on May 5, will want to know that Nick is sending us a few items for our auction! So make your plans now to head out for a great show with Randy Houser and Matt Stillwell, and put your bids in for the Nick Nicholson CD, shirt and photo!
Here’s a clip of Nick on what appears to be a television program in Arizona (someone correct me if you know exactly where it’s from) – It’s Nick, doing another song you can hear on his MySpace page… Real Women Drive Pickup Trucks.
I think that will do it for this morning. You guys have a great Tuesday! Keep those e-mails coming. I love to hear what you have to say. And, I really do write back — very first chance I get!
