Toby honor Toby Keith is a lot of things…singer, songwriter, actor…and he’s one of my favorite country music entertainers. He always has been. I think he always will be. I’m one of the few people who really, really liked “Broken Bridges.” I’m one of the very few people who actually paid to see “Beer for my Horses” in the theater – just weeks before it showed up on CMT. Anyway, I like Toby Keith… I guess we all got that now.

Well, apparently, other people like Toby, too.And on March 26, the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation in New York City will present Toby with the Johnny ‘Mike” Spann memorial Semper Fidelis Award. The award was named for the Marine Corps captain-turned CIA paramilitary professional who was the first casualty in the war on terror, the award recognizes Toby as “always faithful” in his loyalty to and support of America’s troops.

Toby22 In an article posted on That Nashville Sound, Toby said “Spending time with our soldiers around the world is something I’ve always regarded as a privilege and honor. I’m certainly happy to accept this award, but I won’t forget for a second who’s really doing the heavy lifting to keep this country safe. And, that’s why I’ll keep going back and spending time with those good folks every chance I get.”

TobyK1 In 2009, Toby completed his seventh USO Tour. He visited many sites including Forward Operating Bases on the front lines in Afghanistan and Iraq. The Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation was formed in February 1995 by former marines and federal law enforcement personnel, and has distributed more than $38 million to the children of America’s fallen heroes. Senator Joseph Lieberman was the winner of this award in 2008.

Am I missing something here? I just went to Toby’s home page to look at his tour schedule. I always do that when I get anything up about an artist. I like to list a few dates here so everyone knows when a performer is coming close to them But all I have  date Toby has up right now is five months from now … Aug. 8, 2009, at We Fest, Detroit Lakes, Minn. I have a feeling that’s not right … I bet Toby is going to be a whole bunch of places between now and Aug. 8. I’ll keep an eye on his schedule.

While we’re all waiting to see where Toby is going to be next, here’s a video of one of my many favorite Toby songs, “Should’ve  Been a Cowboy.” This one goes back a few years. but I still love it.

Hope your Tuesday has been a good one. Talk to you soon. And, I know – I owe some of you e-mail. I’ll answer that tonight. I promise! Off to the office I go. Keep in touch!
