whayes We haven’t heard much from Wade Hayes lately. Yesterday was his 40th Birthday  (April 20). I hope he did something really fun to celebrate. I didn’t want that to get by without wishing him a very Happy Birthday! Wow, look at that hair. The photo on the left is obviously from Wade’s early days in country music. I think he was adorable. The photo below right is more recent, and you know what? He’s still adorable. Even with the absence of that really long hair.cake

Back in 1994 Wade signed with Columbia Records, and his debut album, “Old Enough to Know Better,” went gold. The single of the same name went to No. 1 on Billboard’s chats, and three more songs from that album reached the Top Ten.

wade He released his second album in 1996, called “On a Good Night,” and that one also made it to gold. The second single released from that album, “When the Wrong One Loves You Right,” was the only Top 40 hit from the album.

Wade signed with Monument in 2000, and released Highways & Heartaches. The album didn’t produce any Top 40 country hits, and it was his last solo album. He has now joined the backing band for Randy Owen, former lead singer with Alabama. Wade plays lead guitar with the group and is also singing harmony. But he is still doing a few things on his own, too.

If you are anywhere near Nashville, you will be able to see Wade tonight (April 21) at the Fiddle and Steel Guitar Bar, that show is at 10:30 p.m. On April 25, he will be at Kickers in Clarksville. On June 9, he is scheduled for Storme Warrner’s Nashville Navy Show with Jeff Bates and his band. That show starts at 5 p.m., with Jeff and his guys taking the stage at 8:30 p.m.

Then Wade heads on out of Tennessee, and on June 19, he will be at Taste of Country at Dunn Tire Park (where the Buffalo Bisons baseball team plays), and that evening will include Blake Shelton, Craig Morgan, Julianne Hough and Randy Owen.

His shows as a member of Randy Owen’s band are up on his web page from June 20 through Dec. 3-6. And are from Pennsylvania to Cancun, Mexico – so be sure to check that out and find a show near you.

I’ve always been a fan of Wade’s. I often visit his MySpace page to see what’s going on in his world, or just to listen to some of his music. I really like “She Knows Me (but she loves me anyway). If you haven’t heard that one, you might want to listen.  While I like just about everything he’s ever done, this is my very favorite Wade Hayes song, so I just have to put it up here for everyone.

That’s all for now. I’ll talk to you all later. Out in the rain I go — have to get to the office now. You guys have a great day, and write to me when you have time. I love hearing from all of you.
