Keith Urban is going to be singing on the finale’ of American Idol! How cool is that for country music fans. And, the most famous American Idol ever is going to be on the stage, too. Carrie and Keith are among the entertainers scheduled for the last week of AI this season. The shows will air Tuesday, May 19 and Wednesday, May 20.
Anyone who has been watching all season long knows that this final is between Kris Allen and Adam Lambert. It’s been pretty obvious all season long that Adam would be one of the top two. Kris was a very pleasant surprise for me. I really like him. And, while I’m sure there are a lot of Adam Lambert fans out there, I would like to see Kris pull off an upset. Probably because Adam’s music is just a little far out for me. But we won’t have to wait much longer to find out exactly what happens with this year’s American Idol competition.
I’m an Idol watcher. In fact, I’ve told you all before, I’m a “reality show watcher if there’s some kind of talent involved.” I live Dancing with the Stars, So You Think You Can Dance, and I even watch that often ridiculous America’s Got Talent. I watched Nashville Star, as long as there was one, and I always try to catch an episode or two of Gone Country. Can You Duet is one that I really like. But American Idol seems to be the one that started all this off, and I do my best to never miss an episode of that show.
Other performers scheduled for the last show include David Cook, Lionel Richie, Cyndi Lauper, Queen Latifah, and Black Eyes Peas.
Who is going to win? Of course we won’t know that until Wednesday night. But this is what Terry Charles, public relations manager at PMI Entertainment Group in Green Bay, had to say about the outcome. “The final nod should go to Lambert. He’s really talented. But interestingly, he seems to be wearing on some people. His screaming is getting on some people’s nerves, and he’s using that as a crutch for every song he sings. But he’s daring and talented, and that should be enough for him to win." (You can read the rest of the interview by Cheryl Anderson here.)
Here’s Adam Lambert, nine years ago (at age 18), singing at his high school graduation. Wow, he went from blond to black hair, but the kid can sing. Maybe he should go back to just singing and not screaming so much. At any rate, here’s Adam.
Now, for Kris. This one was taken by a fan on May 8, 2009, when Chris got to go home for a visit.
If you’re an Idol fan, I’m sure you’ll be tuned in. And if you’re a Chris or Adam fan, remember to call in. I have a feeling this will be another one of those nights when Ryan Seacrest can start his announcement by saying… “With the highest number of votes in Idol history…..”
It’s Monday – for those of you starting the work week, have a good one!
