I’m already making plans for Wednesday, Nov. 11, when ABC-TV will broadcast the 43rd annual Country Music Association awards show from the Sommet Center in Nashville.
They haven’t said much about the show yet, but they have it scheduled, and they have the location. Last year the CMAs were hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood. But we don’t know if they will be back this year, or if we’ll have someone new doing the hosting duties. I think they did a good job in the hosting chair – but there are so many great country artists who I think could wear that ‘host hat’, and I’d like to see them given the opportunity, too.
According to a press release, the CMA promotes the show as the longest running annual music awards program on network television. I’ve probably watched it every year, and I’m sure it usually has a large audience.
For many years, WXBQ radio in Bristol, Va., has hosted a CMA party. They used to have an ACM (Academy of Country Music awards) party for that award show in April, too – until they moved it to a Sunday night. We didn’t have a CMA party last November, but I’m hoping they’ll get one together for this year. It’s always a really fun event! Lots of door prizes, mingling with our favorite on-air personalities, great food, big-screen TV’s to watch the show … just a really fun evening. Any local folks who never made it to that party need to mark their calendar now … there just might be a party in November. But that is six months down the road. There are a lot of fairs, concerts and other events between now and then.
I’m running late this morning, so I better get to work. You guys have a super day – I’ll talk to you later. After work, I plan on spending some time answering e-mail, so if you haven’t heard from me for a little while – tonight’s the night! And to the rest of you, write when you get a chance, I love getting mail!
