Julianne Hough and Chuck Wicks are done with Dancing with the Stars, after having been voted off the show last Tuesday night. But, those two are very busy with their music careers, and they probably are glad to have a little rest now, and not have to practice for the two hour show tonight.
That brings us to little brother, Derek Hough. Did you guys know that he has a band? Derek and Mark Ballas, also a professional dancer on DWTS, have a band, called The Ballas Hough Band. Other members of the group include Emily Grace, Harry Sullivan (drums), and Sam Marder (bass guitar). Derek is guitar and vocals, and Mark is composer and lead guitar.
The band was formed in London, England in 2005, and moved to the U.S. in 2008, where they signed a record deal with Hollywood Records. The group was originally known as “Almost Amy,” but changed their name to Ballas Hough Band due to a conflict with their previous name (according to the band’s official myspace).
I couldn’t find a lot of upcoming shows for this group, but they did to quite a bit before DWTS premiered this season on March 9. They did shows in Philadelphia, Detroit, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Los Angeles, Kansas City, Cleveland and Indianapolis. And on August 1, they are scheduled to show at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn.
This is the official music video for their song, “Do It For You.” Not exactly my kind of music, but since it’s Derek, and since he’s Julianne’s brother, and since we’ve been talking about Dancing with the Stars a lot this season, I thought I’d put it up here for you guys.
I have to run. This is a busy, busy week. I’ll try to get something up here for you guys tomorrow, but if I don’t…just keep checking back. I’ve got myself spread a little thin these days. Our Concert For A Cure is coming up tomorrow night, so Tuesday will be a totally full day for me!
Talk to you all soon, write when you can!
