I think we all remember Kenny Chesney’s concert in a downpour, two weeks ago, in Frisco, Texas. On Sunday, May 16, Kenny was back in the Dallas suburb to finish up his show for the fans. This time he did it without the thunder, lightning and rain. Two weeks ago, after playing for about 50 minutes, Kenny’s show was canceled, due to what was called “dangerous conditions.”

I would have loved to been at that second show, when Kenny opened up with “There’s Something Sexy About The Rain,” and a video of his rained out concert two weeks earlier played on the huge screen behind him. Before he started singing, he said “Now, where was I?”

Kenny performed two hours of his own songs, and then did some songs by Tom Petty, Joe Walsh, David Allen Coe, U2, Lynyrd Skynrd, The Violent Femmes, Alabama, the Kinks, George Strait, Van Halen, The Eagles and John Mellencamp.

I’ve been to a lot of fair shows, where the entertainers hang out with their fans in a very casual setting before and/or after their show. Jake Owen took a ride on an ATV around the fairgrounds one year, and that was after he’d stood and talked to us forever. Josh Gracin spent a lot of time with his fans, too – as did Chris Young and several others I’ve seen. But, I’ve never heard of one doing what Kenny did after the show in Frisco.

Kenny said some people were pulling a hot tub on a trailer. They were in the parking lot, and when he saw them, he headed to the bus, iced up a case of Corona and took it out. “When I got there, they were having such a good time, I grabbed a beer and climbed in the hot tub with ‘em.” Wow, how great would that be! (From Country Standard Time article). If I ever hit some mega jackpot lottery thing, remind me to put a hot tub in the bed of my pickup truck.

If you haven’t seen the videos or Kenny singing in the rain, here’s an acoustic performance of “There’s Something Sexy About The Rain,” that he did during the May 2 show during the downpour, after they covered the drums and most of the other equipment on stage.

And one more look at how bad that rain really was.

We’re without rain in Northeast Tennessee this morning, but we boy is it cold! I might have to take another look at the calendar to convince myself it’s really May 19, because we’re in the mid 30’s this morning! It’s supposed to warm up to the mid 70’s though – and at that point I’ll be complaining about sitting in the office, and wishing I were outside enjoying those 70’s. But, it’s a work day, and I really do have to get to the office.

I’ll talk to you guys real soon. Drop me a line! There are a few of you out there I haven’t heard from for a while, and you guys know I worry about you, so write when you have a minute!
More later,
