Good Morning! I’m running on about no sleep here. Last night was our Unicoi County Relay For Life. We don’t have a grand total yet on the money we raised, but during the 12 hour event, 7 PM last night until 7 AM this morning, we know we’ve added greatly to the total we’ve raised during the year. I’ll let you all know how we did when the final penny has been counted. (This photo was from our 2008 Relay. The county theme was “Don’t Give Cancer a Sporting Chance.” Each team was a sport – we picked football, and used the slogan “Our Goal…Kick Cancer.” This year’s theme was “Searching the World for A Cure,” and each team decorated their camp like a foreign country.)
With the little sleep I had, and the plans I have for today, this might be a bit of an unorganized post – but I’ll do my best to make some sense for you guys. Then, I’m going to go catch a few hours sleep so I can head to Gray, Tenn., this evening for a concert at the Appalachian Fairgrounds.
What’s going on is Fountain of Life Bible Church Car & Bike Show. In addition to Motorcycle Stunt Rider, Murdoc, at 2 p.m., there will be the Fearless Flores Thrill show (show times are 11 a.m, 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.); food vendors, swap meet, face painting for the kids, and as their advertising says “Something for the whole family.” The gates open at 10 a.m. today, and on Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m., church services will be held at the fairgrounds. And, they have Aaron Tippin on stage at 6 p.m., doing a free concert for anyone who wants to go. And I want to go. So I hope I can sleep a little while this morning, and get myself together in time to head on up to the fairgrounds and see a little of what’s going on up there, and Aaron.
Aaron was at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio last night, and on the 30th he’ll be at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. July 3 will find him in Jefferson City, Mo. for the Salute to America 2009, and on the 4th of July he will be doing the Clinton Riverboat Days in Clinton, Iowa. There’s just no slowing this guy down. He’s got something nearly every night in just about every part of the country, and already has a March 10, 2009, show planned for the Florida Strawberry Festival in Plant City, Fla. Be sure to check out his MySpace page to the complete list of shows.
I’ve seen Aaron a few times before. I’ve met him, I think he’s a fantastic entertainer and a really wonderful person. I’m looking forward to the show, and hopefully a long nap on Sunday afternoon.
Here is a great YouTube medley of Aaron hits.
Time to go to bed. Seriously. Just hope I can wake up refreshed and ready to go to that concert tonight. Talk to you guys real soon!
