ABC television will air a television special featuring Sugarland on Monday, Aug. 3, The show will highlight their “Live on the Inside” CD and DVD collection that is scheduled to be released on Tuesday, Aug. 4. My only problem with this is … only an hour show? Wow, that’s just not long enough. I’d like to see the ABC executives to stretch that to a two-hour special, but I doubt that will happen.
“Television music specials and performances become iconic. Who hasn’t seen replays of the Beatles on Ed Sullivan or Elvis’s TV special wearing his jump suit and giving away his scarf?” said Jennifer Nettles. “Even performances that I can remember as a child, like ‘Live Aid’ for example, really made such an impact. We are so excited to have our show on ABC and hope that it will be a moment that people will enjoy and remember.”
“We have overheard fans for years say, ‘I brought my friend to see the show, this is their first Sugarland experience’ with so much pride and excitement on their faces. It’s as if they can’t wait to share what they have discovered,” said Kristian Bush. “This special is their new ticket that they can give to a friend. That is the most exciting part of this, imagining how far it will reach.”
These two never seem to slow down. They are going to be in Primm, Nev. on Wednesday (June 24), then off to Birmingham, Ala., on the 25th, and Roanoke, Va., will have them on June 26, at the Roanoke Civic Center; and On the 27th the hit Philadelphia, Pa., for a show at Lincoln Financial Field. I have no idea what it would be like to be in 4 different states in four days. But I sure do admire anyone who can keep up that kind of schedule.
Their web page says they are doing Country Concert ‘09 in Ft. Loramie, Ohio AND Molsen Amphitheater in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on the same day! July 9 for those two. I hope you all get a chance to see them when they get close to you. And if you’re like me … get that Aug. 3 date up on your calendar to be sure you remember to watch the ABC special.
The pictures here are from Sugarland’s May 22, 2009, concert at Freedom Hall in Johnson City, and were taken by Brittany Johnson. I’ve had some of hers up from this show earlier, but these are all new ones. Thanks Britt!
That’s all for. Talk to you all soon!
