A few days ago, I told you all about David Nail. I really like his music, and I like everything I’ve read about him. And now, let me join the many, many fans who are following David on Twitter – and say Congratulations to David and his new wife. I think it’s great that David got married on Saturday, and then was quick to put a wedding picture up for all of his Twitter friends to see. Next…
I know I’m getting old when I remember as if it were yesterday, a large stage, all dark, then a spotlight comes on … and there’s our entertainer. Standing in the middle of the stage with his guitar, ready to do his show. He looks out at the audience and says, “Hello, I’m Johnny Cash.” No flying down from the ceiling on a swing – like Kenny is opening his show; no lifts coming up out of the floor, and definitely not the “Jack in the box” entrance that Rascal Flatts seem to be going for on their current “Unstoppable” Tour. Although I must said, it does look like fun.
Check out this YouTube video form a RF tour rehearsal. I love these guys though. So it wouldn’t matter to me how they got on stage, as long as they got there. Actually, when I saw them at Freedom Hall in Johnson City a few years ago, the entrance was certainly not this complicated.
Carrie Underwood is one superstar who definitely seems to have learned to keep her personal life to herself. But the Peterborough Examiner in Ontario, Canada is reporting that Carrie and Mike are still a couple, and were seen out on Friday night celebrating Mike’s 29th birthday. Mike told The Examiner that it was Carrie’s first trip to Peterborough, and she was enjoying herself. The couple were at the Splice night club for their celebration.
How many Heidi Newfield fans are surprised that she is just now launching her official Fan Club? I was. I just assumed there already was an official Heidi Newfield Fan Club… but there won’t be. Not until June 11, at 10:45 a.m. when Heidi gets it all started at the Sommet Center during this year’s CMA Music Festival. The cost is $30, and you get a whole bunch of stuff when you join. Check it out here. We were lucky enough to have Heidi here in Northeast Tenn. last August, and we’re going to have her again back in our area in September, 2009. This time she will be in Abingdon, Va. She puts on a fantastic show.
With BamaJam in Alabama, CMA Music Fest about to start in Nashville, and a dozen or more country concerts all around the country, Travis Tritt, Ronnie Milsap, Caitlin and Will, Jessica Andrews, Steve Azar, Love and Theft, and Eric Church were on hand Sunday to perform at the Tulare County Fairgrounds in California. KJUG Radio’s annual Jugfest kicked off at 12 noon on June 7, to a breezy 82 degrees. Sounds like a fun day for the folks in California.
And, lastly, on this very busy Monday morning, Gloriana has set Aug. 4, for the release date for their self-titled debut CD on Emblem/Warner label. The 13-track album includes their top 20 hit single, “Wild At Heart.” This past week, the single was at number 98 on the Top 200 Digital Singles Chart, and sold nearly 100,000 copies so far.
That will have to do for this morning. Time to head to work. Talk to you all soon. Sorry about not getting any of your mail answered this weekend. But I’m really not all that far behind, so I’ll get to you real soon. Thanks for all the nice things you’ve been sending my direction.
Have a great Monday!
