Relay Smokies 2005-01-01 003 This is going to sound like one of those “How I Spent My Summer Vacation” third grade essays. But actually, it’s more of a “How I Spent My Weekend,” and a little preview of what’s to come.

On Friday night I went to the Tennessee Smokies baseball game in Sevierville, Tenn. They lost, to the Mississippi Braves, 10-0. But, the fireworks show after the game was great. The popcorn was good, the crowd was friendly, and I had really nice time.

Relay Smokies 2005-01-01 002 The Smokies are a Class AA Major Legue affiliated team (Chicago Cubs), and they have got one great stadium. These are their mascots, Diamond and  Slugger. I don’t know who is in those costumes, but they had to be two very hot humans at that game on Friday night (the temperature was in the 80s).

JesseeWilliams_11 I also had an opportunity to meet two of our newer country recording artists while I was in Sevierville. Jessee Williams and Robin Cahill were both signing autographs and selling their CD’s there. It was a pleasure meeting both of them. I only mentioned that today because I am working on a short article to put up here in the next day or two, telling you about both of these country singers, of course pointing you in the direction of their web sites and their music.

robincahill Both of their CD’s are available online, and I’ll tell you more about that when I get something written about them as well. These guys are really country, and I think you’re going to like their music.

They were both very nice and very easy to talk to. I like meeting people who have the ability to make you feel comfortable with them from the very start. These two were definitely that kind of people. ‘

Parrot 289Parrot 284 On Saturday morning we went to Pigeon Forge and Galinburg, just because I love those places. A lot of very “touristy” things to do.

In Gatlinburg, I ran into a man and his Parrots. I didn’t really have time to ask who he was, or why people were being photographed with his birds, but I hope someone will let me know. I somehow got the idea that he and these fantastic birds were from some kind of bird sanctuary or something, where they were being cared for. I hope someone who is familiar with this will e-mail me and let met know just what he was doing. But, since the people holding the birds told me I could share their photos here, I wanted you all to see these great birds.

I need to get myself unpacked, get some laundry going, and get on with the rest of my Sunday. I’ll talk to you all soon. I’ll get something more up about Robin and Jessee real soon. Have a great Sunday!
