On March 6, 2009, Jason Aldean was in Knoxville. He wasn’t just doing a show, he was filming a Live DVD. And now, we have a release date for that DVD, Wide Open Live & More – Aug. 25. The DVD not only includes 15 songs, “She’s Country,” and “Big Green Tactor” among them … but it also has interview footage. Have you ever seen him interviewed? He’s really good at it – not everyone can interview well, but Jason sure does.
Jason told CMT News, “This is the coolest thing we’ve ever done together as a band. The energy in Knoxville was off the charts, and it’s just really special for us to have that night recorded. Now people who might not be able to make it to one of the shows, but are curious to know what we do, can check it out, too.”
The songs on the 86-minute DVD are Wide Open, I Break Everything I Touch, Amarillo Sky, Why, Big Green Tractor, On My Highway, Jonny Cash, Relentless, You’re The Love I Wanna Be In, Laughed Until We Cried, I Use What I got, She’s Country, Asphalt Cowboy, and Hicktown.
I’m one of the people who has seen Jason Aldean in concert, but for anyone who likes his music, but has never seen him live will want to have a look at this DVD. I wasn’t in Knoxville with the 4,500 people for the taping at the Knoxville Coliseum, but I have friends who were, and they have told me that it was a great show. I wouldn’t have expected anything less from Jason.
Back in March, when Jason was getting ready to do the taping, he said, “Making a live DVD has been a dream of mine for years," says Aldean. "Now feels like the perfect time to do it because we’ve just added several new songs from the new album to the set list. Plus, I’m excited to shoot it in Knoxville because you can’t find a more fun crowd … they are young and always come ready to party."
After you spend five days watching that DVD, you can turn on the television and watch ABC’s 3-hour special on Aug. 31. Jason will appear on ABC’s Country Night to Rock. It’s the special that features highlights from this year’s CMA Music Festival. And of course, that means you’ll not only be seeing Jason, but you’ll also get a little Dierks Bentley, Darius Rucker, Lady Antebellum, Zac Brown Band, Reba McEntire, and many of our other country favorites who were part of CMA Music Festival this year.
Jason will continue headlining his Wide Open tour through the fall, and is also opening for Keith Urban in the coming weeks, at several of his concerts.
Since we all know how good Jason sings, and we were just talking about his interview skills … here’s a little clip of Jason being interviewed before a performance at Cowboy’s Dancehall in Texas.
That’ll do it for this Tuesday morning. Talk to you all soon.
