People have often said that it doesn’t take much to amuse me. Yesterday morning, I found out how true that is. I live in really small town. In fact, you could probably put every man, woman and child who lives in this town in one of the places Keith Urban sings – and then put them in there again, and again, and again, and again… and still not have the arena full.
So can you imagine how surprised I was Wednesday morning when I saw two 53’ 18-wheelers sitting in the middle of our little town that said “Keith Urban Escape Together World Tour” on the side of them! And there, bigger than life was a picture of Keith, right on the side of the trucks.
Did I stop and take pictures … you bet. And then I went inside to find out exactly what these big rigs were doing in our little town. And, hoping maybe I could find a driver who might be able to open the back and of that thing and find me a guitar pick or something. That didn’t happen.
What I did find out is that one of the drivers of those trucks actually lives in our little town. He left the rigs parked in that big space and apparently went to spend the night with his mom. I can only assume the driver of the other truck did, too. They were on their way to Boston, where Keith has a show on July 31. Tennessee is a very long way from Boston, but I’m glad they decided to spend the night here – I have a feeling that’s as close as I’ll ever get to Keith Urban’s trucks.
After Boston, the trucks will turn around and head down to Philadelphia for an Aug. 1, show at Wachovia Center. After that, Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, N.Y. on Aug. 2, and then over to Little Rock, Ark., for an Alltel Arena show on Aug. 6. Aug. 7 will find them in Tulsa at the BOK Center, and Aug. 8 in Kansas City, Mo., at the Sprint Center.
Keith will be all over the U.S. and Canada before heading to Australia for shows in December. He’s even got one show on his schedule for 2010 already – that one is in June, so if any of you guys in Grand Junction, Colo., want to get this on your schedule, it’s June 27 at Country Jam USA.
That was my exciting Wednesday in Erwin, Tenn. Now remember, whenever you see a truck, or a bus with someone’s picture on the side of it – grab your camera and send the shot to me. Apparently, I can make an article out of anything.
I have to get to ready for work. I’ll talk to you all soon. I will try to get mail answered this evening. I’ve got something I have to get done, but I do have the mail on my list!
