Yesterday Toby Keith celebrated his 48th birthday. He’s always been one of my very favorite country artists. He puts on one of the best concerts I’ve ever seen. He’s not only done shows all over the U.S., but has also recently completed his seventh United Service Organization tour of the Middle East, performing 15 shows in Afghanistan.
Now Toby has announced that he will be heading to Scotland and England on Nov. 9 and 10, as the first stops on a nine-city European Tour. This will be the first time Toby has been in Europe. I hope those people are ready for him. He has shows scheduled for Finland, Denmark, Sweden and Norway. The tour will end of Nov. 22.
Toby fans will also want to make a note that he plans to release a new album in November, too.
In Mid-June, Toby hosted the Sixth Annual Toby Keith & friends Golf Classic, to benefit Ally’s House, a nonprofit cancer charity. The private two-day tournament included a party, auction and concert. Participants in the celebrity tournament included Bob Stoops, Barry Switzer and Roger Clemons.
Toby, with the help of some friends, founded Ally’s House in 2004. The Norman, Okla. based nonprofit provides financial aid to Oklahoma children with cancer and their families. The charity was named for Allison Webb, 2 year old daughter of Scott Webb, one of Toby’s original band members, and Linda Webb. She died on Aug. 6, 2004, of kidney cancer. The Golf Classic has raised nearly $3 million since it began, including this year’s event total of $550,000.
Toby never seems to slow down. Early in June, he opened his newest I Love This Bar & Grill restaurant in Mesa, Ariz., and has several more for that restaurant chain in the works. I want one of those here! This past February he showed us all the plans for his new casual clothing line, TK Steelman, and even had a fashion show in Las Vegas to show off that new line. And of course right now, he’s keeping busy with his “America’s Toughest Tour,” which kicked off June 18 in New Jersey.
Here’s an interview Toby did just before he went to Afghanistan for his seventh USO Tour. I really like this guy.
Time to get to work. Talk to you all soon. I’ll get back to my e-mail real soon. I know I still owe some of you a note, and I’ll get to that very soon.
