Craig Morgan and David Nail … Part of Race weekend at Bristol
I guess this news is mostly for those of us living near Bristol, Tenn., or for those who plan to be at the Food City 250 this coming Friday night, or the Sharpie 500 on Saturday night. Craig Morgan, who has never missed a Jack Daniel’s/USO Toast to the Troop event, is going to keep that track record going, when he performs this weekend at a free Toast to the Troops, at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, in the Earhart Campground next to the speedway, the free concert is open to campers, fans, and race-goers. Craig is headlining what will be a full weekend of live entertainment at the Earhart Campground. Other performances include Chris Hennessee, The Wayne Mills Band, and The Mulch Brothers.
David Nail will be opening the Food City 250 on Friday night by singing the anthem, which will be broadcast live on ESPN2. He will also be entertaining the crowd with an acoustic concert prior to the start of the Sharpie 500 on Saturday night. The Sharpie race will be the 98th race held at Bristol since the track opened in 1961.
With his current single “Red Light” in the top 25, and being played a lot on country stations everywhere, David released his CD, “I’m About To Come Alive”, on Aug. 18. I hope David is ready for what will probably be his largest audience when he sings for 160,000 race fans at BMS on Saturday.
In addition to the races, and the country music, those attending the race get to try to break a record for Guinness, when 160,000 voices will join together to sing “Friends in Low Places” - the record, group karoke. The old record was set in May in Europe, when 80,000 people sang together.
Tonight is Food City Family Race Night. That actually begins at 1 p.m. on the streets of Bristol. There will be live entertainment, food, car shows, souvenirs and many drivers on hand to sign autographs.
I think all of Craig’s fans know that he likes riding dirt bikes. So here’s an odd little clip of Craig, jumping over his band members on a dirt bike. You just gotta love YouTube.
I will talk to you guys soon!
