I would imagine by now everyone on the planet who listens to country music, has heard David Nail’s single “Red Light” on their local radio station. Or perhaps you’ve seen the video on CMT or GAC. And I’m sure you know it’s a great song.
I’ve had one here for a while now, but I haven’t had a chance to really sit down and listen to it – until now. So with Aug. 18 just about here, I thought it was about time I get something up for you guys.
The CD is on the MCA Nashville label, and includes 11 songs. There’s even one co-written by Kenny Chesney and Scooter Carusoe, called “Turning Home.” The other 10 songs are “Mississippi,” “I’m About to Come Alive,” “Red Light,” “Again,” “Clouds,” “Summer Job Days,” “Strangers on a Train,” “Looking For A Good Time” (Definitely not the same one Lady Antebellum did), “This Time Around,” and “Missouri.”
I like the CD a lot. I’d like to vote on which one David releases as his next single. But we don’t usually get to do that. I like them all, some more than others. But I think they’re all good songs. I think my favorites are “This Time Around,” “Strangers on a Train,” and “Clouds.” But I’m not trying to make up your mind for you. Just listen to this CD, and I’m sure you’ll have your own favorites first time through.
I like what David said on his home page (in his bio). He said, “I feel like regardless of where you grew up, city, small town, east coast, west coast or whatever, there’s something in this music that you can relate to. They might not all be exactly the same, but everyone has those moments; the first time you left home, falling in love, losing love. That’s what moves me, what I can dig into.” And David definitely has a way of moving us with the things he can dig into.
He’s only got a few shows up on his home page. I always like to find out where these kids are going to be … and always hoping they will end up playing somewhere near where I live. Especially when it’s an artist I enjoy as much as I’m enjoying David’s music. So David…when you get an extra hour or two, point that bus in the direction of Northeast Tennessee, and let us come see what it is you obviously do best.
By the way, the shows he has up are Nashville on Aug. 18, the day the CD comes out. He will be Tin Roof. Then on Aug. 20, he’s going to Norman, Okla., to the Riverwind Casino. On Sept. 4, he’ll be at Joe’s Pub in New York City, N.Y.
Here’s David in 98.5 KYGO’s concert studio.
Have a great Sunday!
