I feel like I should start out this post with a very sincere and appreciative “Thank You’” to Jason Michael Carroll, and to his management. To JMC, thank you for an absolutely fantastic concert in Bristol on Wednesday, Aug. 12. This was a free concert, open to anyone who wanted to attend … and you gave us a performance that most would have paid any ticket price asked to attend.
To your management staff, I just can’t thank them enough for making sure that everyone who wanted an autograph or photo with you was able to get what they wanted. It was a kind of awkward way of doing the autograph thing, since Jason was just sort of in the middle of the crowd, and not behind a table. There was no way to keep the fans organized, in a straight line, or really to give any kind of direction at all. And still everyone connected with Jason somehow managed to make sure that none of the fans left disappointed.
Jason put on a 90 minute show. We heard all of our favorites, as well as some that maybe weren’t quite as familiar. And every one of the songs seemed to be exactly what that group of fans was waiting for.
The folks at Bristol’s Parks and Rec Department also deserve a thank you. They have a wonderful facility in their Steele Creek Park Amphitheater. And they were great to see that people who could not walk from the parking area to the amphitheater got a ride in a golf cart or via a shuttle bus. And of course, we had the famous WXBQ Rabbit there, along with our favorite 10 a.m.-3 p.m. deejay, Reggie Neel.
Jason is going to be at the Brown County Fair in DePere, Wisc., on Aug. 21; in Lancaster, Calif., at the Antelope Valley Fair on Aug. 24; and at Willamette County Music Festival in Brownsville, Ore., on Aug. 29. Be sure to check his web site for more show dates. He has the list up there through the end of September.
And, one more thank you! I had the very good fortune of running into Dirk Wilson, who at well over six feet tall, took many of the on-stage shots you’re looking at now. So thanks, Dirk. I hope to run into you at another concert sometime soon.
Now, enjoy some pictures of the show, of some of the fans with Jason, and some of the fans with the rabbit.
That’s it for this morning. I’ll talk to you soon. And if you ever get the chance to see Jason Michael Carroll on stage – don’t miss it. It was definitely one great performance.
