Sugarland & Gloriana CD’s enjoying the top spots on the Charts
I’m never surprised when a Sugarland single or CD does well. And I knew when I heard and watched their CD/DVD combination pack “Live On The Inside,” that this thing was going to be huge for them. And I wasn’t wrong.
“Live On The Inside” debuted at the top of not only the country charts, but also the top of the all-genre Billboard 200 album chart. I got to watch this DVD and listen to the CD a little early, when I received a review copy in the mail. And, the day the CD was released, Aug. 4, I put up a review for you guys. I really love it. If you missed the review, go back to the Aug. 4 post and check it out.
"Our fans are such great fans, and they have been pestering us for a long time to put out a live record," Sugarland’s Kristian Bush tells The Boot. "We’ve been excited to put our show on tape and play the show in everybody’s living room!"
I think it’s great that they’ve made this great 2-disk set so affordable. It is being offered exclusively at Walmart, and is priced at just $12. If any of you are thinking about Christmas, which is just 130 days away (or something like that), this CD/DVD set would make a great stocking stuffer!
Gloriana’s self-titled CD, which I reviewed here on July 27, was also released on Aug. 4. They debuted at No. 2 on the country album charts and No. 3 on the all-genre Top 200. They have sold 44,000 copies, which makes them the best selling new artist in 2009.
Their debut single, “Wild At Hart,” is also the best selling song by a new country act in 2009, and sold more than 250,000 copies so far. They guys will be opening for Taylor Swift when she takes her sold out Fearless tour to Madison Square Garden in New York City later an August.
I’m really happy for these kids. They are talented musicians, and vocalists, and their album is great. If you don’t have their CD yet, you might want to put it on that Christmas list.
Here’s a Gloriana interview for you this morning. And they answer the question “Where did the name Gloriana come from.” The answer isn’t all that interesting … but if you’ve ever wondered, watch the video and you’ll find out.
Time for me to run along. You guys write when you find a minute. I’ll talk to you all real soon!
