Terri Clark’s new CD, The Long Way Home, is set to release on Sept. 1, 2009. I had a chance to hear just a little of the music from that CD, and it’s wonderful. Anyone who likes Terri is going to love this CD. If you have ever seen her in concert, you know what a fantastic entertainer she is.
Terri has the lyrics to two of the songs on the CD up on her home page. Wait till you hear “If I Could Be You.” In addition to the lyrics, there is a short clip of the song on the page for you to listen to. But read all the words to this one. It’s a powerful song, and will really pull at your heart.
On her web site, Terri said, “This song reminds me so much of my Mom and her friend, Pat. They have been friends for 40 years, and have stuck by each other through thick and thin. My Mom was the one with the kids and family, and the “perfect looking life” for so long. And now that my Mom is fighting for her life, I’ve heard her friend say so many times “It should be me”… Click here to listen, and read the lyrics.
The second song we get to preview is called “Poor Girls Dream.” It’s been quite a while since we heard Terri do anything like this. It makes me want to get a copy of the whole album so I can listen to the rest of the music. You can hear part of “Poor Girls Dream” here.
Terri will be previewing new songs from this upcoming CD each week between now and Sept. 1.
Terri recently finished shows in Canada, and will be back in the U.S. from Aug. 14 through Oct. 19, when she will be at Nova Scotia’s Rebecca Cohn Auditorium in Halifax. Her tour in Canada runs through Nov. 22, when she will be at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, British Columbia. All the tour dates are on Terri’s web site.
Here’s a little clip of Terri from 2007, singing “Dirty Girl.”
Sure wouldn’t mind getting Terri back in our area sometime soon. She put a fantastic show at our Appalachian Fair a few years back, and she was super nice to all the fans. From the looks of her current schedule, it will be a while until we get her back to the southeastern part of the U.S., but I know I’m not the only one who will be standing out in the ticket line when she schedules a return trip.
I better get busy. We have our 2009 Relay For Life wrap-up dinner and meeting tonight after work, and I have a lot to do between now and then. I’ll talk to you guys real soon! Thanks for all the mail!
