Five country music entertainers will be showing us how smart they are, as they compete to win money for their favorite charities, on the popular television show “Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader.” The show will be airing during the week of Sept. 21, at 8 p.m. on CMT.
I’ve seen this show, and I’m not sure what school these kids are from, but I did not know the answers to these questions when I was in fifth grade. There are even some second and third grade questions that come up on the screen that I have to seriously think about. I remember one in particular where it was a second grade question, and they asked “How many “A’s” are in the sentence, “I pledge allegiance to the flag.” Are they serious? Please line up 10 second graders for me so I can see how many know the answer to that one.
But, it is hosted by Jeff Foxworthy, and I like him. And, the celebrities are playing for charity, and that’s always a good thing. (One more ‘and”)… And, i like all the entertainers competing, so there you go. I’m going to be watching.
First up, we have Big Kenny, on Monday, Sept. 21. He will be playing for the charity Love Everybody. I couldn’t really find any information out about this organization, but I’m sure Kenny will tell us when he stands behind the podium to do his thing.
Bucky Covington is going to be on Wednesday’s show (Sept. 23). His winnings till go to the Arthritis Foundation. They also have a great web site, and I know that everyone with Arthritis, or helping someone with the disease, will learn a lot from this site.
One of my favorite country entertainers will be on the show on Thursday, Sept. 24, and that’s Jack Ingram. He will be playing for Tom’s Shoes. This company gives a pair of shoes to a child in need – for every pair they sell. That is totally cool.
On Friday, Emily West will be playing for the Alzheimer Foundation of America. I saw Emily on a TV special last year (with Larry the Cable Guy); and I know she was at the Pub Crawl in Nashville with Darius Rucker, but other than that, I don’t know a great deal about this young lady. But I think she’s going to do well on the show. I’m not sure why I think that, but I do.
Do you all remember when Kellie Pickler was on that show? She’s cute, she’s comical, and I like to hear her sing … but I’m not sure how smart she is. Watch the clip below, and we can all hope that our next five singers will do a little better job than she did.
I would love to spend the day chatting with all of you, but I really have to get to work. You guys have a good Monday, and I’ll talk to you soon!
