Randy and young camper, Justin, at VJCI received a press release yesterday about Randy Houser and Victory Junction Camp, and I wanted to share it with you. I love Randy Houser, and you guys all know how impressed I am with any celebrity who gives their time to help others. Here’s a story that talks about that very thing.

Nashville, TN – September 21, 2009 – Universal Records South’s Randy Houser made a special stop last week at Victory Junction in Randleman, NC to lend his time and voice to the NASCAR-themed camp that caters to chronically ill children ages six to 16.  Country music and NASCAR fans alike will have an opportunity to see just how much fun campers, and Houser, have on the 80 acre grounds when the 2009 Victory Junction PSAs begin airing on ESPN during select televised races this fall.

kyle_petty_big_smile "We were thrilled that Randy Houser took the time out of his busy schedule to stop by Camp today with his band.  Being big country music fans all of our lives, we all love his "old-school" style of music.  Randy is such a genuinely engaging person, our campers and staff fell in love with him immediately," says Camp Founder Kyle Petty. "With Victory Junction’s ‘Feel Your Heart Race’ NASCAR theme, the connection with Nashville and country music is an easy one to make, being that we share many of the same fans.  Randy bowled against some of our campers and drove against them in race simulators.  Whether he won or lost, and he did both, he looked like he had the most fun of anyone there.  Randy was kind enough to do a PSA for Camp to help spread our message of hope. We look forward to a long-term relationship with such a great and talented guy."

autograph "Victory Junction Camp was unbelievable," Houser exclaimed.  "The Pettys have built a special place for kids to have fun and create memories that wouldn’t be possible.  I’m just happy they let me come hang out for the day!"

Randy Houser Monday 134 Houser’s enthusiasm toward Victory Junction isn’t the only thing racing this week as his debut album, ANYTHING GOES, is No. 1 on the New Artist Chart, following a two-week No. 1 run with single "Boots On" on Music Row’s charts and climbing up to No. 2 on Billboard and MediaBase charts.  In addition, Houser was also recently nominated for both New Artist and Video of the Year for the 43rd Annual CMA Awards show.  Houser is currently gearing up to co-headline "CMT on Tour 2009" with Jamey Johnson, visiting 30 markets across the United States commencing October 8th in Brooklyn, New York.
