After reading what Brad Paisley did in Florida last week, I’m guessing I was never the millionth person to buy a ticket to anyone’s show. If I were, perhaps I would have won something – huge.
Tim and Amber Brown, from Orange Park, Fla, attended Brad’s “American Saturday Night” concert in Jacksonville, with their sons, James and Logan. Amber is expecting their third child. When they got there, they were moved to front row seats, and told they were the millionth person (well, one of them was) to attend the show.
After the show, they got to go back stage and meet Brad, and that was when he handed them the keys to a new Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. Reports say that Amber was “overcome with emotion,” and Tim shook Brad’s hand and thanked him over and over. (I would have, too!)
Tim, who is in the Navy, said ““You just don’t know how much of a blessing this truck is to us.”
This isn’t the first time something like this happened. But the last time, 12 years ago, it wasn’t the 1 millionth person who got the vehicle, it was the 3 millionth, and he got more than just a truck. Maybe if I just keep going to concerts, I’ll get to be the right person in some day.
Back in September of 1997, Garth Brooks did the vehicle give-away thing, too. It was his 3 millionth fan to see him live and he gave an Iowa couple a car, a truck, and a shopping spree at a local Lincoln, Neb. mall.
That was the same month Garth won the Country Music Association’s Entertainer of the Year award. Garth wasn’t at the show that year, because he was entertaining fans in Nebraska. For a look at the rest of Garth’s 1997 year, click here.
That’s all for now, so let me close with this: Midnight last night was the deadline to enter the Whitney Duncan Prize Pack. Winners will be notified today by e-mail. After they respond to the e-mail and send their mailing address, they will be announced on Country’s Chatter.
I better get going. Talk to you all soon. Thanks so much for all the e-mail. I’ll answer as quickly as I can!
