In October, 2008, I received a press release about Country Crossing in Dothan, Ala. I told you all about it on Oct. 31, 2008. The release said this 400 acre resort and entertainment center would open in the Fall of 2009. I visited their web site, and just couldn’t believe they could get anything ready that fast. But it looks as if things in Alabama are running pretty close to schedule.
Restaurants at this fantastic complex will include Tracy Lawrence BBQ, Lorrie Morgan Cafe, Worley Bird Cafe, John Anderson Buffet, and the Bingo Pavilion. That, along with hotels, swimming pools, shopping areas, and theaters. I’ll make plans to visit, I’m sure.
They have announced that Kellie Picker will be headlining the inaugural show on the stage of the Celebrity Station Amphitheatre on Dec. 12. Houston County and Matt Kennon are also scheduled to perform.
Tickets for this show are available through donations to the Wiregram Arena United Way Food Bank from Nov. 2-Nov. 13. Canned foods (a minimum donation of five cans) may be redeemed for tickets or a monetary donation ($5 per ticket) may be made to the food bank. You can find out more at the Food Bank’s web site.
Here is a GAC interview with Ronnie Gilley, who started the project, and a few other special guests.
Time to head out and start a new work week. I’ll see you guys later!
