WhitneyD Whitney Duncan fans! Get ready, because I’ve got a contest for you!

Three readers will each win a prize pack containing the following: an autographed EP (6 songs from Whitney’s album); a DVD of “Skinny Dippin’”, a poster, and a standup!

I was always a fan of Nashville Star. I miss that show. It gave us Miranda Lambert, Chris Young, and I even still like Buddy Jewell – the first season winner. Anyway, I remember most of the contestants I watched on that show, and I remember Whitney. She even sang ‘”Skinny Dippin’” when she was a contestant.

I liked her on the show, and I still do. I’m surprised we haven’t heard more from her over the past few years. But since “Skinny Dippin’” has gotten a lot of radio play, I think we’ll be hearing a lot of Whitney in the future.

WD_c4_02 raw_crop Whitney gives us a little background information on her home page, including things like her birthday! It’s Aug. 3, if anyone (other than me) is interested in things like that. I hope I’m not the only one. She lives in Nashville, and was born in Jackson, Tenn. She started singing at age 6, and started playing guitar at age 19. She has one brother, Ryan.

She lists her favorites as country and rock, for music; Elvis, John Mellencamp, Shania for singers; and says she plays guitar, but wishes she could play drums, too. Her favorite song is “Good Ole Boys Like Me,” by Don Williams… I’ve always liked Don Williams. And, her favorite color is blue.

She likes reading, snowboarding, watching movies and softball, and lists her favorite foods as ice cream, sushi, pizza, peanut butter and jelly. Now that is a very nice little introduction of Whitney Duncan, thanks to her web site.

I think we’ve all seen her video for “Skinny Dippin’”, but if you haven’t seen the video she did with Kenny Rogers, “My World Is Over,” you can check it out on YouTube. I think it’s great.

Whitney has an “Events” section on her web site that will keep you up-to-date about where she’s going to be, and when. Nashville has her on Oct. 16, for an appearance at the Grand Ole Opry. And she’s got things coming up in Las Vegas; Stateline, Idaho; Box Elder, Mont.; Lewiston, Idaho; and  Henderson, Nev. Keep and eye on her Events, you’ll want to see her when she gets near you.

To enter, just fill out the information below, and submit! The contest will run through midnight Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009, so get your entries in now.
