I’m a big Dierks Bentley fan, so I’m really looking forward to getting two new albums from him next year. I got to see him put on a fantastic show a few years ago, missed him a couple of weeks ago when he was in Knoxville with Michelle Branch (I did have a friend there with a camera – thanks Brittany). I do hope to see him the next time he hits the Northeast Tennessee area.Dierks said recently that he plans to record a bluegrass album during his time off the road. And, he plans on getting a country album ready, too.
"Nashville is my hometown; I’ve been here 15 years, so I know a bunch of the grassers, a lot of the country guys, a lot of songwriters and musicians," Dierks explained to The Boot. "Every album I’ve done has a bluegrass song on it, so it’s not a surprise that one day I might make a bluegrass record. It would be a cool thing for me."
You can catch Dierks on stage in California, Las Vegas, and Michigan between now and the end of the year, and of course he has the schedule on his web site. The Arizona event on Nov. 21, is Dierks’ Celebrity Motorcycle Ride and Jam Session in Tempe, Arizona – Miles and Music for Kids – Phoenix. All the proceeds from this event will benefit Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
Dierk’s single, “I Wanna Make You Close Your Eyes,” is closing in on the Top 10 on Country’s Top 40 chart. He has a long list of hit songs, starting with his debut single, “What Was I Thinkin’,” back in 2003. He’s a great storyteller – and really shows that with songs like “Lot of Leavin’ Left To Do,” “Come a Little Closer,” and “Settle for a Slowdown.”
Here’s a little bit of Dierks with Kathy Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb on the Today Show. That had to be fun for those two – getting serenaded by Dierks.
