clip_image001As we get closer to the Christmas holiday season, it’s time to start marking our calendars for the specials that we don’t want to miss. Of of them for me is Christmas in Washington. And this year, Sugarland will be part of Christmas in Washington – to be televised on Sunday, Dec. 20, at 8 p.m. on TNT. They are the only country artists who will join Mary J. Blige, Neil Diamond, Rob Thomas and Usher, on this annual TNT music concert. The host this year will be George Lopez.

sugarland1dd The event is attended each year by the President and First Lady, as well as other Washington VIPs. The event will actually be held at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. on Sunday, Dec. 13, and will be taped for the Dec. 20 telecast.

The following two paragraphs are taken directly from a press release. I’m not sure I needed to do that for a country music blog, because I think everyone reading this blog already knows all this about Jennifer and Kristian. But, here it is… Just in case we have anyone on board who isn’t totally familiar with this fantastic duo.

SU2 Sugarland, the country duo comprised of Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush, has sold more than 8 million records since exploding onto the music scene in 2004 with Twice the Speed of Life (“Baby Girl”/“Something More”). Enjoy the Ride (“Want To”/“Settlin’”/“Stay”) quickly followed in 2006, and their third studio album, Love On The Inside (“It Happens”/“Love”/“All I Want To Do”/“Already Gone”) in July 2008, which skyrocketed them to superstardom and drew fans from all genres and critics abroad. Sugarland is credited with co-writing all tracks from all three albums and co-producing the last two.

SL3 In August 2009, the duo offered thanks to their loyal fans with Live On The Inside, a CD/DVD set of live tracks, covers and footage from their tour. They have performed in six European countries and toured and headlined shows tirelessly. They’ve received trophies from the Grammys, American Music Awards, Academy of Country Music, CMT Music Awards and the Country Music Association. Nettles has performed for the Obama Presidential celebration, and the duo performed on Oprah. Their latest album is Gold And Green, a 10-track holiday collection consisting of half standards and half originals, all of which Nettles and Bush co-wrote and co-produced.

Jennifer and Kristian will be on Oprah’s show on Nov. 30. But while you’re waiting for that interview – here’s an interview Sugarland did on the E! television show, Chelsey Lately with Chelsey Handler. It’s a good interview. I really like to see our entertainers look this relaxed, just sitting around talking.

Ok, guys, that will do it for this morning – but remember we have a Sugarland contest going on right now. You have until 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, to get your entry in for Sugarland’s holiday CD, “Gold and Green.” The winner will also receive a poster, and some Sugarland Holiday Gift Tags (to/from tags). To enter just scroll down to the Nov. 16 post, and fill out the entry form at the end of the post.

You guys have a good day. Drop me a note when you have time. Talk to you soon!
