We’ve been hearing about this for the past 24 hours or more. And since it’s official – here’s what we have for you. Ottawa Senators hockey player Mike Fisher, has asked Carrie to marry him. And, as you might have guessed – Carrie said yes. The two have been dating for a little over a year. How’s that for a Christmas gift —- I haven’t seen a large enough picture of the ring to get the details, but it is obviously big. The Ottawa Sun newspaper has several shots of Carrie wearing it, just click here.
I have no doubt Carrie is going to be one beautiful bride. There haven’t been any specific announcements made yet – like when they will get married, or where, or who the lucky guests will be. But I’m sure that will be announced as the plans are made. I’m curious as to how much they will tell us, in this day of digital photography and lenses the size of the Hubble telescope. I wouldn’t mind propping myself in a tree stand at the door of the church.
The Ottawa Citizen had the following report about Mike confirming the rumors of the engagement:
"It’s true," Fisher said. "We’re both obviously excited and very happy and so, exciting times for sure."
A wedding date hasn’t been set.
But according to a family friend, Fisher, 29, popped the question at his home Sunday afternoon while surrounded by his family and friends, before texting the good news to many of his close friends later in the day.
In the Ottawa Times article, Mike’s roommate, Chris Neil, said “There are going to be a lot of broken hearts here in Ottawa, all those girls who are in love with Mikey," he said. "But he’s marrying an awesome girl. It’s unbelievable for him.”
Just two weeks ago, Carrie made the following statement in an interview:
“I’m 26 now, and I feel like this is the biggest point in someone’s life for maturity to happen. Most of the people I went to school with are married and have kids,” she said. “This is just a time for growth, and I feel like I definitely experienced a lot of growth from then to now. I’ve grown up a lot.”
I’ve got to get moving. You guys have a good Tuesday. I’ll talk to you all real soon!
