One of my very favorite country artists will be taking the stage at the Grand Ole Opry on Friday, Jan. 8, 2010. That would be Chris Young. I really like Chris. He’s a fantastic singer, performer, writer, and he’s one of the nicest young men I have ever met.
But, as every one knows — no one does the Opry alone, and that will also hold true on Jan. 8. who will be joining Chris? Fans will get to see Holly Williams, and Hank Williams Jr. (Hank will be doing the second show only).
And it doesn’t end there. Danny Gokey fans in the Nashville area will want to make their plans now, as Danny will also be on the stage that night.
There probably aren’t a lot of people who remember this, but back in the mid to late 1980s, I saw Kyle Petty open for the Oak Ridge Boys in Bristol, Tenn., at Viking Hall. Yep, that would be NASCAR driver Kyle Petty. And, maybe he’s still singing country music. I’m not sure – all I know is that he is on the schedule for Jan. 8, and I can only assume he will be there to sing. I think what I remember most, is that when singers usually sell autographed photos of themselves, Kyle was selling one of his car!
The Grand Ole Opry shows will be at the Ryman Auditorium in January, and anyone who has ever been there knows this is one of the best places to hang out back before or after the show, and try to get a photo or autograph form your favorite artists. For ticket information, check out the Grand Ole Opry’s web site.
Here’s a Radio-Thon, that Kyle did to raise money at a fundraiser. I’m not sure when, and I know this … if Kyle does sing at the Opry on Jan. 8, I hope he leaves his Bellybutton Man song at home. Check this out.
Time to start a new work week – but for me, like for most of us, this will be a short one! I’ll be working today and tomorrow only, then get ready to enjoy a great Christmas with family. Talk to you all soon. Thanks for writing! I’ll answer as quickly as I can. I love hearing from you guys!
