I have recently been introduced to a really fantastic trio of young ladies. Tayla Lynn, Jennifer Wayne and Caroline Cutbirth make up the group Stealing Angels. And while this may be a new group to me, it seems they’ve had a pretty good 2009.
Back on Nov. 11, 2009, during CMA week, Robin Roberts, of ABC, did a special featuring the girls. I guess you could say that was when they were introduced to country music fans. Well, most country music fans. I missed the interview, and apparently I missed hearing about what I believe is a great new trio! During the broadcast, Roberts talked about the girls well-known relatives, including Loretta Lynn, John Wayne and Daniel Boone).
The last show this group has up on their web site was for Jan. 22. But, it came with a note that says “Currently off the road till we finish recording. We’ve accepted dozens of dates for shows, fairs, festivals, all over the country for late spring, summer and fall… See you soon!
And of course the site reminds us to come back for updates, when they start posting that schedule. I’ll definitely keep an eye on them, and hope they are going to end up in my area soon.
I do have a little more information about where the girls will be later in 2010. According to Pollstar, they have a show in Butte, Mont., on Feb. 4, one in Box Elder, Mont., on Feb. 5, and one in Cheyenne, Wy., on Feb. 6. Wow, those are some cold-weather places to spend early February. Spring dates up so far include June 25, at Country Jam USA Grounds in Grand Junction, Colo., and Country Jam USA in Eau Claire, Wisc., on July 23.
The sample CD I got from the girls has four songs on it. My favorite is “Ladder,” which you can also hear on their web site. “Lightning in a Bottle,” is a fast song, and it definitely seems like they are having fun singing it. “If I Was So Bad,” is another that will probably stay one of my favorites. I like them all. “Girls Gotcha Back” is slower, and pretty. I’m sure each of these girls can sing very well individually, but I was really impressed at how well their voices blend. You can hear these four songs when you visit their MySpace page.
I hope you will all visit Stealing Angels web site and MySpace page. You can follow them on Twitter, too. Before I go, I have to thank my Twitter friend, TommyinVB for sending me all these (color) photos that he took in Virginia Beach at Sharx. I don’t know anything about Sharx, but it definitely looks like a fun place.
You guys have a fantastic Friday – here in Northeast Tennessee, we’re preparing for a major snowstorm, which is calling for 7-8 inches of snow in lower levels, and a foot or more in the mountains. The storm has canceled the George Strait concert that was scheduled for Knoxville tonight. I’m going to the office, but if I see much snow, I’m coming home early. And, I don’t think I’m going out the rest of the weekend.
Thanks again, Tommy, for the pictures! They’re great! I’ll talk to you all soon, write when you have a chance!
