I received a press release yesterday telling me that Colt Ford will be making his Grand Ole Opry debut on Jan. 30, 2010. I first became acquainted with this rapping country artist when I received a press release back in July, telling me about Colt, and his CD “Ride Through the Country.”
Since then, he opened for Jason Aldean in Johnson City (that was Nov. 20), and I had tickets and a Meet & Greet pass, but I couldn’t go. I had another obligation. So I sent a friend of mine in my place who wrote a great review of the show for me. You can read that review by clicking here.
Now, Colt is going to be on the stage of the Grand Ole’ Opry. Below is the press release I received about that event.
NASHVILLE, TN – January 18, 2010 – As a new country music artist, there is one rite of passage that truly cements your place within the format, and if you’re Colt Ford, it’s not surpassing the 100,000 album sales mark, and it’s not having artists like Jamey Johnson sing on your single and hearing it on the radio, although Ford admits both highlights were cool. The true stamp of approval is an invitation to perform on the Grand Ole Opry stage at the Ryman Auditorium, the most hallowed institution in country music – and on January 30th, that dream will be realized when the Average Joes Entertainment recording artist makes his Opry debut.
“When I heard I was gonna get to play the Grand Ole Opry, I thought they were pulling my leg,” said Ford. "I never in a million years thought I would get this chance. This will be as close as I can get to heaven while playing music."
One of the songs that Ford will perform on the Opry is his current single for Average Joes Entertainment, “Cold Beer,” a new release that features Jamey Johnson on accompanying vocals. His single appears on Ford’s debut album, RIDE THROUGH THE COUNTRY, which was released in 2008 and has consistently charted on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart with sales of over 120,000 to date.
Ford will continue to tour in support of RIDE in 2010 with many dates opening for Jason Aldean. Ford’s sophomore studio album, CHICKEN & BISCUITS, is slated for release in April 2010.
That’s the release … so guys, if you’re near Nashville, or will be in Nashville on Jan. 30, 2010, you might want to grab your tickets now for the Jan. 30 show.
