2010 Academy of Country Music Awards Nominees
This years list of nominees for the 2010 ACM awards were announced on March 2, 2010. The show will air on Sunday, April 18, 2010, at 8 p.m. on CBS. I looked over the list – gave out a little cheer when I saw the names of my favorites in the categories, and frowned just a little bit when I noticed some missing names.
Do we not have enough Vocal groups out there? I’ll never understand how someone can be considered “Top Vocal Duo of the Year” AND “Top New Vocal Duo of the Year” in the same year. I love Steel Magnolia, and I think they belong in the Top New Vocal Duo category. But as much as I like these two, I don’t understand how they are also nominated to “Top Duo of the Year” – along side of Sugarland and Montgomery Gentry. As for Joey and Rory – they’re ok. They’ve done some things I like. But they’ve been around a few years now. Do they really belong in the Top New Due of the Year, AND the Top Duo of the Year? How long is one considered ‘new’ in the eyes of those making the nominations.
I’d have to pick Jack Ingram and Patty Griffin for Vocal Event of the Year. I might be the only one who thinks so – but that song would definitely have my vote. But, I’m not part of the academy, so that thing will probably go to Hillbilly Bone. And didn’t Carrie and Randy already win that award for “I Told You So” last year? Or was that another awards show? There are so many these days.
And the nominees are….

There you have it – your list of nominees for the 2010 Academy of Country Music Awards. Let me know what you think. Who should be on that list, but isn’t? Who shouldn’t be on that list, but is? Why don’t we have Jason Aldean on that list somewhere? It’s going to be interesting to see who carries the awards home this year. I think some are a little more predictable than others. I’m looking forward to the show.
I will talk to you all soon! Enjoy your Wednesday!
