I have always liked Dwight Yoakam. Actually, I’ve always liked country music, and Dwight Yoakam is part of the reason why. I can’t really think about country music without songs like “A Thousand Miles From Nowhere,” “Act Naturally,” and “Little Sister” coming to mind. But these days, Dwight might find himself singing just a little bit of the blues … tax blues.
According to a report in the Detroit News, Dwight owes the Internal Revenue Service $457,873. And, the report said, after falling behind in his tax payments, Dwight received a bill from the IRS. I don’t know how long it takes someone like Dwight Yoakam to earn just under half a million dollars. I do know it would take me forever.
Here are a few dates Dwight has coming up, if you’d like to see him when he gets near you. April 9, he will be in Thackerville, Okla., at the Winstar Casino. On the 10th of April he hads down to Snook, Texas for a show at Starlight Ballroom. June 25 he will be in Snoqualmie, Wash., at Mountain View Plaza, and on July 25, he comes east for a show at Churchill Down Race Track in Louisville, Ky. Aug. 20, he’s heading to Canada for the Havelock Country Jamboree. Keep an eye on the calendar on his web site as new shows are posted regularly.
I had heard that Dwight was going to be at CMA Fest this summer in Nashville, but it’s starting to look more and more like that was just a rumor. If it turns out to be true, I’ll let you get it up here for you. I now Dwight has a lot of fans out there.
Better run for now. Talk to you guys real soon! Thanks for the mail! Write whenever you have time.
