By now we all know that the 45th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards will be telecast live on April 18, at 8 p.m. The CBS show comes to us from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. We’ve read the list of nominees and we are all pulling for our favorites to take home the awards, but there are definitely other reasons to watch.
I love to see what they are wearing, how they have their hair fixed, who they are sitting with in the audience. And of course, I like to find out who we will get to see performing on the show each year. This year it looks like they have quite a lineup. Some of the performers scheduled to take the stage this year include Jason Aldean, Brooks & Dunn, Blake Shelton, Carrie Underwood, Tim McGraw, Reba McEntire, Kenny Chesney, Trace Adkins and Lady Antebellum.
Lady Antebellum is leading the pack this year, with seven nominations! I have always been a Lady A fan, and really hope they walk away with a lot of those seven awards. They aren’t expecting to win them all though. Dave Haywood recently told The Boot, “We were blown away by our seven nominations. It’s exciting, but also a big shock to us that we got that many. It’s exciting because a lot of them are for “Need You Now,” which means that people are responding to our new music, so that’s a great pat on the back. We’ve made a lot of great friends in the industry, even Reba “twebas” us.” I love that word. I follow Reba on Twitter, too – I’m going to have to “tweba” her now and then.
I need to get myself ready for work. I do want to thank all of you for the e-mail and messages you’ve been sending on Twitter, letting me know what you think of the new Nick Nicholson song that I posted yesterday. Really great knowing that song is getting such a good reception from country music fans. Maybe this time next year, we can get ready to watch Nick be part of the ACMs. He could be one of the New Artist nominees. I really do appreciate you writing, and I hope you will all remember to call your favorite radio station and request the song when it is released mid-April.
Now, I really better get moving here. I’ll talk to you all real soon!
