Kingsport, Tennessee’s Fun Fest 2010 (July 16-24) is proud to announce the 30th Annual Concert Series at J. Fred Johnson Stadium and the new Sunset Series Pass. The series will feature several great artists appearing on the Brock Services, Ltd Stage this year.
Winner of this year’s Best New Artist Grammy The Zac Brown Band will take the stage Saturday, July 24 presented by Eastman Chemical Company. The group is fueled by numerous honors and accolades including their most recent as nominees for four Academy of Country Music awards including “Entertainer of the Year,” their first nomination in the category.
The reigning ACM “Top New Vocal Group” Zac Brown Band is also nominated for “Album of the Year” for The Foundation, “Single Record of the Year” for “Toes,” and once again “Top Vocal Group.” Zac Brown of Zac Brown Band also received two additional individual nominations as the producer for both “Album of the Year” for The Foundation and “Single Record of the Year” for “Toes,” “Breakthrough Video of the Year” from CMT and USA Weekend – the Zac Brown Band is poised to bring their hit-single “Chicken Fried” to Kingsport.
The Zac Brown Band will play on the March 19 edition of CMT Crossroads with Jimmy Buffett.
The series opener, Jason Michael Carroll, will take the stage Thursday, July 22 for the AGC Flat Glass Concert. Carroll’s accomplishments are impressive enough for any new artist – a chart-topping debut album nearing a half-million in sales, three hit singles from that album, all of which he wrote or co-wrote, a Gold ring tone certification and opening spots on some of country’s hottest tours. Whether it’s the empathy brought to bear on the tragedy of “Alyssa Lies,” the pure passion of “Livin’ Our Love Song” or the youthful exuberance of “I Can Sleep When I’m Dead,” Carroll knows how to connect with fans.
Joining Jason Michael Carroll will be Love and Theft and Edens Edge. Love & Theft – an up-and-coming trio made up of three equally and uniquely talented singers – has developed a distinct sound where each member shares lead vocal duties and join together for harmonies that explode on the chorus.
Edens Edge is a music trio from Nashville who have been referred to as today’s country with wings and roots. Hook-laden pop country songwriting, flawless three-part harmony and locked rhythm, coupled with a deep connection to their bluegrass roots, Edens Edge is sure to feel right at home here in Kingsport
All three concerts will be held in J. Fred Johnson Stadium at Dobyns-Bennett High School, 1800 Legion Drive in Kingsport.
Katharine McPhee will perform Friday, July 23 at the Friday Night Live Concert sponsored by Domtar and Eastman Credit Union. Fans first met McPhee on season five of American Idol. Her first solo record debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Top 200 in early 2007 and her sophomore album “Unbroken” was released in January of this year.
McPhee was recently featured on NBC’s sitcom “Community”. She’ll also hit the small screen with her upcoming lead role on NBC’s new comedy pilot “The Pink House.”
Both McPhee and Zac Brown performed in the 2010 “We are the World for Haiti” music video.
