toby2 Often, here at Country’s Chatter, I will print an entire press release for you guys. Usually because the author of the release says it much better than I can. But I don’t think I’ve ever printed an e-mail exactly as it was written – until now.

I received an e-mail today from Victoria. She was writing to tell me about Stand Up to Cancer and Lifting Lives, the charity of the Academy of Country Music Awards. I’ve been a support of the American Cancer Society and Relay for Life for a very long time. So when I received this e-mail, I thought the best way to tell you about it was to just tell you, the way Victoria told me. Here’s her e-mail:

toby-keith-with-guitar “My name is Victoria and I’m working with Stand Up to Cancer and Lifting Lives, the charity of the Academy of Country Music Awards. If you’re planning on tuning in on Sunday, April 18 at 7 PM Central/8 PM Eastern to catch the ACM awards on CBS, Toby Keith will be performing his song “Cryin’ for Me (Wayman’s Song)” live on the ACMs as a tribute to his friend, Wayman Tisdale, who passed away on May 15, 2009 due to complications from bone cancer.

toby concert 2 Keith said that “WAYMAN was an amazing guy. In the song there’s a line that says ‘he showed us how to live and now he showed me how to die.’ Both of those were true. He didn’t frown on people for how they live; he led by example. He showed you how you’re supposed to live and he died with so much dignity. I am happy to partner with ACM LIFTING LIVES and SU2C to donate proceeds of the performance downloads to support this important cause.””

We would like to ask for your support in raising awareness of Toby’s tribute to Wayman on the ACMs on April 18, 2010, as well as of the Stand Up to Cancer team that Toby has created to raise funding for cancer research in Wayman’s honor. Team Toby for Wayman, as a SU2C team, is a way for fans and everyone with a common interest or stake in the fight against cancer to rally as a collective force. By joining together, we can make a huge difference.

If you or someone you know has been touched by cancer, we would ask that you consider joining #TeamTobyforWayman, as well as sharing it with your readers: http://www.standup2cancer.org/tobykeith

Toby If you’d like to tweet about it, just use the hashtag #TeamTobyKeith or #TeamTobyforWayman to let your readers know that you are helping to Stand Up to Cancer.

And finally, if you are a big fan of the song “Cryin’ for Me (Wayman’s Song),” every purchase of the live performance at the ACMs will be 100% donated to cancer research, so click here if you are interested in pre-ordering on iTunes: http://itunes.apple.com/us/preorder/cryin-for-me-waymans-song/id367422106 or if you’d like to tweet about it, just use the hashtag #TeamTobyKeith or #TeamTobyforWayman to let your readers know that you are helping to Stand Up to Cancer.”
