When I first met Blake Shelton, he was dating Kaynette Williams. In fact, I think they were engaged at the time. Kat was Blake’s road manager. She was so cute, a petite little blond that worked as hard as the men on Blake’s road crew. Of course I got to meet her, too.
I did an article about Blake for our local newspaper, and spent pretty much of an afternoon with the two of them before his show at the Fair that night. That was back in Blake’s long-haired days, not long after he released “Austin.”
On November 17, 2003, Blake and Kat were married in Gatlinburg, Tenn. The wedding was extremely private, with just the couple, the minister, and the photographer in attendance.
Kaynette wore a classic white Demetrios gown, one that she ordered over Internet, according to Country Weekly Magazine. The surprise moment during the ceremony was when Blake sang Conway Twitty’s “Julia” to his new bride.
I have a feeling this time will be much different. Blake and Miranda Lambert are engaged. And I don’t think this one is going to be an extremely private ceremony with only a minister and photographer in attendance. Kat was a beautiful bride, and I’m sure Miranda will be, too.
Someone help me with the time-line here. I’m not trying to start anything. But it is documented that Blake and Kat were divorced in 2006. And in a quote from Miranda that you can read here, she says that she and Blake have been together for five years. Let’s see, 2006 to 2010 is 4 years. Were they seeing each other while Blake was still married? She’s probably just rounding off the numbers, right? Whatever the case, I wish Blake and Miranda the very best.
I was sad when Blake and Kat divorced. Because I thought they were one of the cutest couples, and I thought they were really in love. I have no idea what happened to that marriage. But I know Blake did say in an interview a few years after the divorce, that he just “wasn’t ready to be a husband.’
To Blake and Miranda, thanks for tweeting the picture! Hope we’ll get a lot of wedding pictures, too!
Talk to all of you later! Have a good Wednesday! And write when you can! I love hearing from each of you!
