REBA_MCENTIRE_jpg=600 Back in 2001, Reba McEntire made her Broadway debut in the Rogers and Hammerstein musical, “Annie Get Your Gun.” One review of the show had this to say about Reba: “Reba McEntire, a major star on the country music horizon but a newcomer to Broadway. While she’s a savvy, sophisticated performer, the twang in the Oklahoma born McEntire’s voice is very much “Doin’ What Comes Naturally.”

Joe Nichols 043 Since then, we heard that Joe Nichols had been offered the role George Strait played in the movie “Pure Country.” I think that would have been a perfect Broadway role for Joe.

Unfortunately, there were scheduling problems, things weren’t moving as quickly as Joe needed them to, and his concerts got in the way of continuing with the show. So, while “Pure Country” is still in the works, Joe told me during a recent interview that it will be “continuing without me.”

Reba AnnieNow it looks like Reba just might be looking at Broadway again – this time to play the part of Molly Brown in “The Unsinkable Molly Brown.”  The play originally hit Broadway in 1960, and the 1964 movie started Debbie Reynolds as Molly. If it happens, I’m sure Reba will make a fantastic Molly Brown.

We all know Reba can sing – and from what I’ve seen of her acting, she does a really good job with that, too. I’m sure she will do a great job if she follows through with the Molly Brown role. I just wonder how that will work with her touring, and all her other music obligations. But one thing I’ve seen from watching Reba for the past … quite a few years … she can make it work. Whether it’s her own sitcom or a stint on Broadway. She has a way to doing what she wants to do — and doing it well..

Here’s a video of Reba when she was on Broadway in“Annie Get Your Gun.”

That’s all for this morning. Have a great Monday! Talk to you soon!
