The first time I heard “Pray For You,” I was very glad that I pay attention to the lyrics of the songs I listen to. Because when Jaron said …. “I pray your brakes go out runnin’ down a hill, I pray a flower pot falls from a window sill, And knocks you in the head like I’d like to,” I smiled. And then, I listened to the rest of the song.
How many times have we all wanted to say a little prayer like that…. I don’t mind admitting it. Someone does something that really upsets you and you just wouldn’t mind saying, “I pray your tire goes out at 110, I pray you pass out drunk with your best friend, And wake up with his and her tattoos.” Very cute song, by a really good new artist.
The album, “Getting Dressed in the Dark,” has 10 tracks. Unfortunately I don’t have a copy yet, but I did get to listen to a little of each of the songs. I didn’t hear any that I don’t like. But, with all new albums, there were some songs I liked better than others. You can hear some of the songs on Jaron’s MySpace page, too.
The songs are: “Petals Back on the Rose,” “Meantime Girl,” “Beat Back Love,” “Without Her Leaving,” “It’s A Good Thing,” “Without A Woman I Love,” “Kill Me For Loving You,” “I Hope You Hit Traffic,” “Pray for You,” and “That’s Beautiful to Me.” When you listen to even part of any of these songs, it won’t take you long to realize this kid is a bit of a romantic.
One thing Jaron has learned is how to use his music to tell a story. And, he’s good at that. The entire album is short stories set to music. I think the whole album is strong, and as I said earlier – there’s nothing on it I don’t like. I think it’s going to get him heard on the radio, and make people remember his name.
I had a hard time finding out where he’s going to be next, and what he’s doing in the way of shows … be it fairs, or whatever. I couldn’t find a good schedule for him anywhere on line. Help me out guys – I’d like to know when Jaron is going to be in northeast Tennessee – because I’ll be there, too.
That’s it for now. You guys enjoy your Sunday. I’ll talk to you soon!
