Fun Fest 2010 156 The FunFest concert in Kingsport on Thursday, July 22, was one of the best shows I’d been to in a very long time. I knew Love and Theft would be good, I knew Jason Michael Carroll would be good. But I really didn’t know anything about Eden’s Edge.

I had visited their MySpace page, and I liked their music. But I really didn’t understand how good they were until I heard them on WXBQ early Thursday afternoon.

Fun Fest 2010 086 The group did an interview with deejay Reggie Neel; and they sang, live, from that little studio in Bristol, Va. This is not the first time I heard entertainers stop by the radio station for an on-air interview, and a little acoustic performance. This is, however, the first time I heard any entertainer manage to pull off a a live, on-air performance that was as clear and perfect as the one Eden’s Edge did on Thursday.

Fun Fest 2010 098The guys from WXBQ were also on hand at the show, to take care of the introductions, and of course to make sure our fuzzy friend, the WXBQ Rabbit was close by to say “Hi” to all of his fans!

After hearing this trio on WXBQ, I knew they were going to put on a great performance on Thursday night. And, I was right. I can only tell you guys that if this trio gets anywhere near you, go and see them. You will not be disappointed.

Fun Fest 2010 154 The huge voice that comes out of little Hannah Blaylock, lead singer, just pulls you in. Someone sitting near me at the concert told me, “You must really like this group, you’re just staring at them – hardly taking any pictures.” Well, I did really like this group – but never fear, I also took a lot of pictures!

Cherrill Green sings harmony. She also plays guitar, mandolin and banjo. She’s energetic, talented, and fun to watch.  The third member of the trio is Dean Berner. He plays guitar, and sings harmony. And these three voices do nothing if not blend into perfect harmony. I just cannot wait to see these guys again.

Fun Fest 2010 108 They recently signed with Big Machine Records, which is also the label for Steal Magnolia, Taylor Swift, Trisha Yearwood, and Jack Ingram.

There is so much I could say about this group, but let me just say thanks! Thanks to Hannah, Cherrill and Dean for being part of Kingsport’s FunFest this year … and thanks so much for taking the time to sign autographs and meet some of your new fans from Northeast Tennessee.  And now, here are some pictures from Thursday night’s show.

That’s all for this morning. I still have to tell you about Love and Theft; I still have to tell you about Jason Michael Carroll; and I haven’t even been to Zac Brown Band’s show yet – that one is tonight! I will get home late – I’m not sure how soon I will be able to put something else up here — but the rest of the FunFest activities will be up as soon as I can.

You guys take care, write when you get a chance, and I’ll write back first opportunity I get!
Later,
Country
