Whenever I want to start out a post by saying thank you to a lot of people, you can pretty much guess that I have just been somewhere I thoroughly enjoyed … and a lot of people were responsible for making that event possible.
The event this time, Jerrod Niemann’s show at Steel Creek Park in Bristol on Thursday night, Aug. 5. The people I need to thank are The City of Bristol, Bristol’s Parks and Rec Department, and WXBQ Radio’s entire staff – including our friend the famous WXBQ Rabbit.
And, of course, a huge thank you to Jerrod for giving up a few hours of his time to entertain all of us. Jerrod was also gracious enough to hang out with his fans after the performance, making sure everyone who wanted an autograph or photo with him got what they wanted. He had fans of all ages who enjoyed the snow, snapped a lot of pictures,, and stayed afterwards to be part of the autograph/photo opportunity.
With a No. 1 album, and a No. 1 single, there are probably a lot of places Jerrod could have been on Thursday night, but all of his fans at Steel Creek were very happy that he was spending his evening with them.
To say he put on a good show would be an understatement. The setting was a small amphitheater, outside next to a lake, with a lot of trees, lawn chairs, and heat and humidity. But none of that seemed to bother Jerrod or the crowd that came to see him.
You have often heard me talk about entertainers who come to put on a show with not much more than a guitar and a microphone. Jerrod put on that kind of show for us. And he did it so well. He didn’t just sing Jerrod songs, either. We heard a little John Anderson, a little Conway Twitty, and a whole lot of country. It was a great evening for everyone who attended.
Now it’s time for some pictures. To any of you in this area who didn’t make it to the Park Thursday night … here’s a little bit of what you missed. And to my area Twitter Friends, very nice seeing some of you at this event, and getting to meet some of you for the first time!
Thanks again, Bristol, WXBQ, and Jerrod for a very enjoyable evening of music in the park! That’s going to do it for me this morning. I hope you all have a fun Saturday! I’ll talk to you soon!
