JB Last week I received a copy of J.B. and the Moonshine Band’s new CD, “Ain’t Goin Back to Jail”. I’m going to print the press information that I received with the CD. It will tell you a bit about the CD, and the group.

“JB and the Moonshine Band represent a new generation of Texas Outlaws. They believe in doing things their way, and it’s evident in their music. The debut album “Ain’t Goin Back To Jail” is comprised of thirteen foot stompin’, beer drinkin’, girl chasin’, back road anthems that will leave you wanting more.

“If there’s one thing that separates these East Texas guitar slingers from the rest of the pack, it’s got to be their song writing. From the heartfelt ballads “Whiskey Days” and “Gotta Be Strong” to the hilarious up-tempo tracks “Sticker Peck Out” and “Perfect Girl”, this band’s original music spreading like wildfire across the Texas countryside.

“As a matter of fact, their single, Perfect Girl is running up the Texas charts cracking the Texas Country Radio Top 30 and is currently #27."

The reason I quoted the press release is because I wasn’t really sure what to write about this group. I can certainly agree that they are great writers. I also agree that their music can be described as “foot stompin’, beer drinkin’, girl chasin’ back roads anthems.”  It’s the kind of stuff you would expect to hear on a Saturday night in a little bar in Texas. However, I didn’t hear a lot in their vocals that sets them apart in any way from the thousands of other artists struggling to make it big in country music. And I didn’t hear anything that would make them any kind of competition for the music being played on today’s Top 40 radio stations.

I don’t think this is a CD that I’ll be listening to often, but, I definitely think this is a group I would want to see live. I’m sure it would to be a really fun night for anyone sitting in the audience of one of their shows.

“The Perfect Girl,” their current single,is actually my favorite song on the CD. I think it was the right choice for a single. Here’s the video. Let me know what you guys think.

I hope you will all visit their web site. Learn more about JB, Chris, Hayden and Gabe. And by all means, listen to some of their music. Their CD is available at Amazon, and other web sites.  Have a look, and a listen – to JB and the Moonshine Band.
