Phil Vassar has got himself a gig in Nashville on New Year’s Eve. I haven’t really given much thought to that holiday yet, and I’m sure there will be a lot of great shows and parties popping up all over the country, but this is just the first one I heard about. So you are going to get to hear about it, too.
Phil will be headlining Nashville’s Bash On Broadway, which of course includes the ‘Guitar Drop’ at midnight, and a bunch of great fireworks. The free New Year’s Eve block party starts at 7:30 PM on Lower Broadway and along with great music includes a countdown to the fireworks and the midnight Guitar Drop.
“What better way to celebrate the New Year than at home in Nashville with thousands of your closest friends,” states Vassar. “We’re going to have a great time ushering in 2011 and I can’t wait!”
I had the opportunity to meet Phil, back around the beginning of his career. Just before everyone knew him because of his single, “Carlene”. I’ve seen him several times, got to talk to him, and quickly discovered that Phil never walks off the stage and leaves a disappointed audience after his show is over. Everyone there came to see a great s how, and Phil made sure they did.
Here’s a little about Phil, that came with a press release about the Bash on Broadway:
This Virginia-born singer/songwriter has made his mark in Nashville as an acclaimed performer and musician. Known not only for his knack for hit songwriting, but for his compelling and highly entertaining skills on the piano, Phil has achieved a long list of Top 20 hits on country radio, including 9 #1 songs throughout his career. Vassar’s latest release, Traveling Circus, took him overseas on his first ever European tour, performing in five countries and then continued on to perform in Australia. His accolades include two-time ASCAP Songwriter of the Year, Billboard® Magazine Top New Country Artist, Billboard Country Songwriter of the Year, Music Row® Magazine Breakthrough Artist of the Year, and The Academy of Country Music Top New Male Vocalist of the Year as well as numerous appearances on national television shows. Most recently, Phil became a national spokesman for Feeding America (formerly Second Harvest) in an effort to help increase public awareness of hunger in our country. Vassar tours nationally year-round; keep up with his road antics on The Official Phil Vassar Tour Blog.
Here’s a little look at Broadway in Nashville, on New Year’s Even last year. And of course, the first guitar drop bringing in the new year.
Before we know it, 2011 will be here. What are your plans for that night? Any great country shows in your area this New Year’s Eve that we need to know about? Let me know! We’ll get them posted for you.
Frigid out there again this morning. But It’s about time for me to head out and try to get the car door open again! I’ll talk to you all real soon!
Have a great day!
